On the plus side, smartphone users can test out the BART Clipper integration on their smartphone. Make sure to check the schedule on before going and don’t miss your train because it’s going to be a long wait. Trains are also running about 30 minutes apart if you are traveling from the East Bay or South Bay.
If you’re coming via BART, keep in mind that the trains will be running on a shortened schedule of 8 a.m. “Pokemon Go” players can get to downtown San Francisco via ferry but they have to double check the departure times. The downtown area from Union Square to the Embarcadero will be the site of the City Activation on Saturday and it’s an area that’s full of gyms and Pokestops for the raids Sunday. With that said, I’ll be spending both days of Pokemon Go Fest 2021 in San Francisco. Bring that many players together and you’re bound to find a trade partner. A side benefit will be that it will be easier to facilitate trades with that many people around.ĭuring the event or afterward, players can gather and hopefully use stockpiled stardust to get that shiny they couldn’t find or that missing regional Pokemon that fills out the Pokedex. City Activations are a way of drawing players together so that the Go Fest celebration fosters a sense of community as players hunt for pocket monsters. The photo-ops will be nice but the real attraction will be the critical mass of players that will descend on these urban landscapes. It’s just a little extra for players who were already planning on attending the gathering in these cities. Think of a City Activation as icing on the cake. If you were already thinking about spending the event in the downtowns of Chicago: Denver Atlanta Indianapolis New York Seattle Austin, Texas Nashville, Tennessee or Washington, D.C. The chances of photo-ops with official Niantic displays shouldn’t be seen as a driving force for your decision.
I’d say it depends on how close you live to one of these cities and if you were planning on going in the first place. That raises the question: Is Saturday’s City Activation event worth it? Ticket holders will get the same spawns, same quests and the same bonuses. Keep in mind though, the in-game experience will be the same no matter where you play. With the celebrations being held in 22 cities around the globe, including 10 in the U.S., there’s a chance that one is being held near you. Ever since Niantic announced that it would be bringing back in-person events starting with City Activations for Pokemon Go Fest 2021 on Saturday, July 17, one of the bigger questions facing players is whether to go or not.
